Winter Showcase Successful for Both CDA Teams

California Development Academy returns from Phoenix with five wins and one tie.



The Winter Showcase brought all 156 Academy teams to one location to play three non-conference games. Almost 3,000 players passed through the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, AZ., to have an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of 350 coaches representing the national teams, professional clubs and colleges.



The U18 CDA team was one of twenty 93/92 teams that left the showcase undefeated and the U16 CDA team was one of seven 94/95 teams to win all three games. Daylon Schiffel (U18) scored a brace during their first game on Saturday, December 4th, Seth Casiple (U18) and Nate Nugen (U16) also scored a brace in their games on Monday, December 6th, and Daniel Cuevos Granados (U18) took home a hat trick during their final game on Tuesday, December 7th.



The Winter Showcase also included the Nike International Friendlies, where the Academy players had the opportunity to see several U17 International matches, including the US vs Turkey match on Sunday, December 5th, that would decide the tournament champion (Turkey).
