CDA 93/94 Concludes Successful First Season
The CDA 93/94 team concluded their season at the
US Soccer Development Academy Playoffs in Greensboro,
North Carolina. The team advanced to the 32 team
playoffs as the 17th seed. Development Academy teams
competed all year for births at the prestigious event.
The team earned 6 points at the playoffs, one shy of a
birth at the National Playoffs in Los Angeles at the
Home Depot Center where the final 8 teams will compete
for the National Championship. CDA defeated the #6 seed
PDA out of New Jersey 4-0, defeated the #32 seed
Birmingham 3-1, and were beaten by the #16 seed
Internationals from Cleveland 1-3.

CDA player invited to Fiorentina Tryout
Congratulations to Dalton Pando
who was invited was one of 18 players to a showcase game
in front of Fiorentina coaches at Santa Clara Univesity.
Dalton scored all three goals ont he 3-0 win for his
team. NorCal Premier hosted this PDP event where the
coaches from Fiorentina scoped the talent. In June,
Dalton was contactedd by the coaches who invited him to
Italy for a tryout with their youth academy team. Dalton
will be leaving August 21 for 10 days. Dalton played 2
years with Placer United and 2 years San Juan before
joining the the current CDA Pre-Academy team. Best of
luck to Dalton in Italy. |

CDA
U16 and U18 boys teams had advanced to the US Soccer Academy playoffs
The California Development Academy (CDA), a
collaboration of the Placer United Soccer Club
(PUSC) and the San Juan Soccer Club (SJSC),
announced today that their U16 and U18 boys
teams had advanced to the US Soccer Academy
playoffs in Greensboro , NC , to be held June
25-29. The CDA teams are the official U.S.
Soccer Federation Academy teams for Northern
California, and are intended to provide the
highest level of soccer training, development,
and competition to the very best U.S. youth
soccer athletes in the region.

Congratulations to
Matthew LaGrassa Academy Player of the Week
Matthew LaGrassa contributed to California
Development Academy’s recent winning streak,
scoring goals in two cross-conference games for
the Sacramento-based club. He amassed three
goals this weekend; two against Irvine Strikers
on Saturday and one while playing up with the
U-17/18 team against LAFC Chelsea on Sunday. As
the top team in the Northwest division, CDA will
be tested this weekend with out of conference
matches against Real So Cal and SoCal division
leader, Arsenal.

Morgan Garcia commits to
Barry University
Morgan has graciously accepted a generous
scholarship offer extended to her by Head Coach
Fred Jungemann from Barry University located in
Miami Shores, Florida. Barry University is a
Division II, private university located between
Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Morgan visited Barry
in October and really enjoyed the “homey”
atmosphere that Barry offered.

U-17/18 Performer of the Week: Austin Bravo
Austin Bravo scored the deciding goal during the
89th minute of a thrilling 2-1 win over Chivas
USA on Saturday. The game winning strike brings
his total to 3 goals scored in 4 games played
this season. CDA is in its inaugural Academy
season and will take a 2-2-1 record on the road
in November when they face Washington Premier FC
and Crossfire Premier for challenging divisional
matchups before heading to the Winter Showcase
to take on Derby County Wolves, Ohio Elite SA
and Charlotte Soccer Academy.

The CDA 16’s were defeated for the first time of
the Developmental Academy season on Saturday,
October 24th by Crossfire Premier. Crossfire
earned a 3-0 victory over the CDA 16’s. CDA had
a lot of possession and hit the post early.

Victories
The CDA 16’s kicked off the 2009-10
US Soccer Development Academy season
with a pair of victories against two
of their Northern California rivals.
Friday night the CDA 16’s took on
the Mustang and Sunday afternoon the
team took on Santa Cruz. Both
matches were played in the stadium
at Woodcreek High School.

Surf Cup super group title. The team
traveled with an 18 man roster to
San Diego and received contributions

Liverpool FC U16 Academy coach
attends CDA training session
- Phil Roscoe, Head Coach of the
Liverpool FC Academy team in
England, headed out to Del Oro to
watch both the U18 & U16 CDA Academy
teams train. Impressed with the
quality of some of the players, he
talked with the boys about there
training habits and what it takes to
be disciplined enough to make it at
